FILMMAKING

For three years, I was the primary cinematographer and digital video editor for the Program Division of the Auburn Avenue Research Library.  In that time, I filmed and edited dozens of lectures, community discussions and book signings.  I often manned two or three cameras at a time, on my own, sometimes using my own personal equipment. In 2012, I created a short documentary film in recognition of Women's History Month.  The film was met with great reviews and I've been working to complete a new project since then.

Since leaving Auburn Avenue, I've continued my passion for videography by editing programs and events for other library systems and non-profit organizations. I've also successfully created two commercials, one of which was screened for two months on all 24 screens of the AMC Movie Theaters in Morrow, Georgia in 2019 and the other screened at several Clayton County Commissioner sponsored "Movies in the Park" summer events..

My latest project, examines the lives of African American librarians from past to present.  It will be an in depth look at the obstacles librarians of color have overcome and the challenges we are still facing.  I'd like to present the best possible project and am in need of a few key pieces of equipment.  I've already proven I can create a powerful film with little to no resources and self-taught skill, but this time, with your help, I can present a high quality, professional looking product.

Please take a look at my Amazon Wish List, here.  Yes, some of the items are a bit expensive (it's a wish list after all), but they will be used not only for my pending documentary, but in the library system I work for as well.

About Behind the Mask
The  film is a call to the already bustling discussions about black women; the power
they possess; and how they are seen by themselves and others.  It is anticipated that viewers will experience a greater sense of power,  accomplishment, and spirit that is part of the essence of being a black  woman.

Filming/Video Editing Examples for CCLS

AMC Clayton County Library Commercial
Fun fact about this commercial?  I had just 6 hours to come up with a concept, storyboard, film, edit and record a voiceover for a fifteen second commercial!  How do you capture what a library system does in just fifteen seconds?!  Easy. Pure talent!  The commercial ran on all 24 screen at the AMC movie theater in Morrow, GA and in its first run was viewed by an estimated 139,000 people!!

Re-Opening Video After COVID-19 Shutdown
I'm not sure what it is about me and crunch time but I had about 12 hours to create the questions, film and edit this video.  As the marketing person for CCLS, it was important to me that the message about us opening for limited services had a face to go along with it.  It didn't take much convincing to get the Director on board!
