I ended my tenure at the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System in 2014 as the Social Media and Web Page Coordinator for the Auburn Avenue Research Library on African American Culture and History. It was there that I honed my skills for creating memorable community based programming and events. I was a key participant in several popular events including the Ashley Bryan Children's Awards Ceremony and Exhibit, Alien Encounters: a Speculative Fiction Event and the annual Kwanzaa celebration. I elevated the online profile of the the Library by highlighting our events in social media posts and digital campaigns and virtual tours of exhibits.
Part of my work during my time at the Auburn Avenue Research Library was finding upcoming filmmakers who's work focuses on the African American experience. The flyers below are films that were screened at the Library and were also added to our digital video recording collection. I created several yearly film series including From Books to Big Screen, From Stage to Big Screen, and the upcoming Scenes and Songs: African American Musicals Film Series.
