Experience Overview
I began my library career as a part-time Library Assistant Senior in the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library system. I was then promoted to a full-time position at the East Atlanta library where I worked directly with patrons, assisting with basic computer and Internet queries. I ended my tenure at AFPLS as the Social Media and Web Page Coordinator for the Auburn Avenue Research Library on African American Culture and History. It was there that I honed my skills for creating memorable community based programming and events.
After making the decision to leave the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System, I relocated to Maryland and began working as a School Librarian for the District of Columbia Public Schools. I was solely responsible for organizing and facilitating literacy based programming, facilitating small group instruction, training staff on new literacy based applications, collection development, maintaining the library budget, facilitating 3D printing and design courses, and providing reference and research assistance to students and staff.
From 2017 until Summer 2022, I served as the Assistant Director for Technology and Training for the Clayton County Library System where I was responsible for supervising two out of seven branches totaling 15 staff persons. I was also responsible for maintaining the technology budget and grants, provide system-wide training on new and updated technological software and hardware, creating and facilitating various technology-based classes, and facilitate and manage the Headquarters library’s Makerspace and classes.
Currently, I work as the Marketing Operations Manager for Academy of Art University.
